What happens on your computer

The application does not require a Doppler Atlas account or connect to a publisher-operated application backend. It downloads public weather observations and map images directly from external providers. It stores downloaded and processed data locally to avoid repeating downloads.

The retail application uses headset and controller position and input locally to display and control the VR view. It does not intentionally send those inputs or room geometry to the publisher. Experimental passthrough, room placement and bare-hand features are disabled in this retail profile. A VR runtime or store may process device information under its own policies.

Connections to external providers

The app requests data from the Unidata NEXRAD archive hosted on Amazon Web Services, NOAA/NCEP, NOAA nowCOAST, Iowa State University's Iowa Environmental Mesonet, and the U.S. Geological Survey's The National Map.

These providers receive ordinary connection information such as your IP address and requests identifying a radar site, map area, observation time or sounding station. This reveals an area of interest; it does not necessarily identify your physical location. The publisher does not receive those requests through a Doppler Atlas backend. Providers may log requests and have their own privacy and retention practices.

Provider information:

Storefronts and headset runtimes, including Steam or Meta when used, process information under their own policies. They are separate from this application's publisher.

Analytics, ads and diagnostics

The retail application has no publisher analytics or advertising service enabled. Unity analytics and cloud reporting are disabled in the reviewed build configuration. Local application, processor and crash diagnostics may still be created on your computer. These may include device/software information, errors and installation paths; a path may contain your Windows user name.

The application does not intentionally upload these local diagnostic files to a publisher service. A platform, operating system or VR runtime may separately offer diagnostic reporting under its own settings.

Local storage and deletion

App-managed caches are kept under:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\StormRadarVR\Storm Radar VR\

The older folder names are retained for compatibility. Close the application before deleting this folder. The app can recreate caches when it runs again. Uninstalling may leave cached data or diagnostics behind. Unity or Windows diagnostics may also be stored in other locations or in a location chosen when the application was launched.

If you contact support

If you email the publisher, the publisher and email provider receive your address, message and any files you choose to attach. These are used to respond and investigate your request, and may be kept while needed for the issue, necessary records or legal obligations. Do not send secrets or unrelated personal information. Ask the publisher about deletion or access using the published support contact; applicable rights depend on your location and the circumstances.

Email dylanddermott@gmail.com for support, access or deletion requests. No newsletter or marketing enrolment is part of contacting support.

This website

The pages supplied by the publisher include no analytics or advertising scripts, third-party fonts, embedded third-party media or contact forms. The hosting platform may separately operate delivery and security technology. The web host still receives ordinary request information when you visit, including IP address and page requests. This website is hosted through OpenAI Sites. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process technical request information for delivery, security and operation; see https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/ . Email links open your email application; they do not submit a form through this website.

Changes and contact

Changes will be dated on the published page. The policy is about the described app version and these pages, not a promise about third-party providers' practices. Contact the publisher through the support page for privacy questions. Contact: dylanddermott@gmail.com.

Request deletion

Email dylanddermott@gmail.com with the subject “Doppler Atlas data deletion”. Identify the support correspondence or information you want removed; do not send a password or identity document unless a necessary verification method is agreed. The publisher will confirm receipt, clarify the scope if necessary and respond in accordance with applicable law. Information required for legal obligations may need to be retained; any such limitation will be explained. Requests to external weather, email, store or runtime providers are subject to those providers’ own processes. See the data deletion page for removing local caches.

Policy history

This policy takes effect on 21 October 2026. Prior versions will be retained when the policy changes. The current policy covers the 0.9.0 Retail Windows application and this website; it does not announce public availability of the app.
